Bridging Phrases

Capt Cook Bridge

The Language Of Selling Naturally

Bridging Phrases are very powerful phrases you can use throughout your dialogue without stress or pressure. They can help you in a number of ways, such as;

·         Starting and joining together sentences, and ending a dialogue.

·         Giving you time to reflect on a thought.

·         Softening deeper questions.

·         Helping create a neutral “space” into which both of you can enter and be open with each other.

·         Helping to maintain an open and positive environment throughout discussion

·         Naturally lead you to another point you want to explore.

·         Convey you’re not there to sell in the conventional sense. You’re there to help solve any problems they might knowingly or unknowingly have if you can. If you can’t – you’ll let them know.

·         Convey you’re not going to take up any time unless they want you to.

The power of these phrases comes from using them in the context of a "Natural Selling" dialogue. Here’s a selection that I know you’ll find useful.

Checking for Agreement
I’m sorry, I believe I’ve caused you to misunderstand me...
Is that OK?

Does that sound about right?
Provided this meets with your approval, I suggest that...
Provided you are OK with this, we can take the next step...
So what I suggest is, as the next step, you...

Many of these phrases are in the form of a question. Using questions, of course, helps the other person stay involved.

So keep these phrases in mind and you'll find your dialogues will flow more smoothly. As a result, building a bigger team and boosting your bonus checks will be an easier process. Select several and practise them in your everyday conversations so that they start to flow and become a natural part of you.

Have a peaceful and prosperous week…
